What’s new #
This page lists the changes to the IFRC Network GIS Training Platform that matter to trainers and learners. The newest changes are at the top.
The platform is now published in releases. Changes are collected and checked on a test site first, and then go live together. The next release is planned for December 2026.
October 2026 #
A new address #
The platform has moved to gis-training.heigit.org. Old links to giscience.github.io/gis-training-resource-center still work and take you to the same page on the new site. Please update your bookmarks and the links in your training materials.
A new look #
The platform now uses the IFRC colours, fonts and icons. Cards, callout boxes and the homepage have been redesigned so that the most important sections are easier to find.
New exercises #
Module 5, Exercise 11: Philippines Typhoon Uwan: estimate how many people and health facilities a typhoon affects, under time pressure, as in a real emergency.
Exercise track: Designing a mobile health programme in Colombia: the first day of this exercise track is available. More exercises will follow.
Exercise track: Anticipatory Action analysis for cyclones in Madagascar: this exercise track replaces the old Module 7 exercise 1. The Module 7 pages link to it.
French and Spanish #
The French and Spanish versions are translated step by step. If a page isn’t translated yet, you now see a short notice with a link to the English page instead of an error. The French and Spanish menus only list pages that are already translated.
Fixes #
Hundreds of broken links, images and section links were fixed in all three languages.
Links in the GIS in Anticipatory Action and Tools & Methods sections were updated.
